Joan L. Berkowitz, Esquire

Joan Lorraine Berkowitz is originally from Akron, Ohio and attended the University of Akron. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science in 1992. She then received her Juris Doctorate Degree from Ohio Northern University in 1995. While in law school, Joan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Schniederman in the Common Pleas Court of Summit County, Ohio.

Upon graduation from law school, Joan moved to Florida and passed the Bar Exam. She accepted a position with a law firm allowing her experience in a broad range of legal areas including insurance defense, civil litigation, class action law suits, bankruptcy and criminal law. Joan formed her own Professional Association in 1997 focusing her solo practice on Bankruptcy and Criminal Defense. She was granted the designation as a Minority Business Enterprise and had the privilege of being appointed to represent those with mental and emotional issues accused of parole violations in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. She has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, St. Petersburg Bar Association, Business and Professional Women of St. Petersburg where she serves on the Sponsorship Fundraising Committee, completed Leadership St. Petersburg in 2001, Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Pinellas Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. Joan is admitted to practice before all Florida State Courts and the United States of America Middle District of Florida.
