Meet
Health Activist and Mentor David Buby, D.O.
Retired physician David Buby
(pronounced BeeYOU-bee), formerly a medical oncologist in
chemotherapy with a clinical research practice, has focused
his second career on wellness, weight management, and
community activism. With Dave’s weight management program
you will: limit absorption of fats and carbs by taking
carbohydrate inhibitors and fat inhibitors; take a high
quality Omega 3 oil supplement and a vitamin-mineral
supplement; meet with Dave once a week for 12 weeks; follow
an exercise program designed to fit your individual needs
and interests; keep a journal; and, if necessary, partner
with a mental health therapist.
What you can expect is to
lose two to three dress sizes in six months and make
lifestyle changes that will keep the weight off permanently.

Dave was forced to retire
from his medical practice in Michigan early because of a
disability, and in 1988 followed his long-time partner to
Florida. To continue his love of working with people and
focusing on health and preventing diseases instead of trying
to destroy cancer cells, he chose his new vocation. “People
are fascinating,” he says. He also loves to travel, and has
enjoyed trips to China, Spain, Portugal, Central America,
and South America. Coming soon is a trip to Australia.
When Dave moved to Florida,
he thought he would be spending lots of time fishing.
Instead he became heavily involved in the community and
helped found the Suncoast AIDS Network. He has served on
many nonprofit boards and continues on the boards of Florida
Health and Human Services and Hospice of the Florida
Suncoast. At home in Largo, Dave enjoys all things involving
the seashore – particularly snorkeling, scuba diving and
sailing.
